Story: We Love You Conrad!

“We love you Conrad. Oh, yes we do!” The line from the classic 1960-musical “Bye Bye Birdie” popped into my head when we checked into the Conrad Singapore. We love both Singapore and the Conrad. Singapore is a perfect country and a stay at the Conrad is always perfect. My husband tells everyone, “Singapore has the best taxi system. All the drivers must be Singapore citizens. They are well trained and always use their meters.” I tell people, “The staff at the every Conrad is the best. They are well trained and always friendly.” We especially enjoyed club level where they offer a wide selection of beverages all day long. Breakfast and tea are excellent but; of course, the best is relaxing with evening cocktails and watching the lights of the city replace the light of day. The Conrad Singapore is steps from shopping, tour buses, and Sing’s newest attraction, the Flyer.

We started singing, “We love your Conrad. Oh, yes we do,” with our first experience with a Conrad Hotel. The Conrad Hotels are the luxury part of the Hilton Hotel family named after the founder, Conrad Hilton.

We first stayed at the Conrad Bali. It started off wonderfully. We were picked up in a Mercedes. The driver handed me a bouquet of red roses and said, “Happy Birthday.” I was blown away and it was love at first sight. Of course, it was my husband who arranged it but it was perfect. The hotel was amazing. The wandering lagoon pool has sandy beaches and rooms that front onto the water. We enjoyed the free classes on Balinese dance and culture presented daily. Every day was wonderful and over way too soon.

Our next Conrad experience was a half a world away in Uruguay. Located in the heart of Punta del Este, the Conrad Punta del Este Resort and Casino is the only Las Vegas-style casino and luxury hotel in the region. Uruguay was a delightful surprise. We knew very little about Uruguay but learned it has everything from wonderful beaches to hot springs to farm stays. And, the Conrad was also a delightful surprise with views of the ocean and the long, sweeping beach; indoor and outdoor pools; a casino; an extensive shopping arcade; and a state-of-the-art theater. No need to ever leave. And, we didn’t for a whole week.

Our most recent stay was at the Hong Kong Conrad. Just like Hong Kong it was spiffy. We enjoyed sitting in the lounge and watching the boat in mesmerizing Victoria Harbor. During the day we explored Hong Kong. The city has wonderful parks, which seem like secret gardens protected from view by the skyscrapers. One of the most beautiful is Hong Kong Park with waterfalls, an aviary, ponds, a teahouse, and a tea museum. It is just steps from the Conrad as is the Big Bus stop, which is next to the station providing access to Victoria Peak.

Conrad service is always exemplary and every stay is a treasure. Paraphrasing the words to the song:

We love you Conrad
Oh, yes we do
And we'll be true.

When not with you,
We are sad and blue.
Oh, Conrad, we love you!
