Each year thousands of music and art fans travel across the country, and in some cases across the globe, to experience something that only happens once a year: The Coachella Music and Art Festival.
Taking place the last weekend in April, the festival spans 3 days, 5 stages, and hosts over 100 bands. It's held on a large polo field right outside the coachella desert and mountains of Indio, CA with temperatures reaching upwards of 105 degrees. Art installations are featured throughout the festival grounds and as night falls the festival transforms itself into a light and flame show; and that doesn't even count what's happening on the stages.
Having gone 5 years in a row I can honestly say, that I look forward to it every year, and I am traveling from the east coast. Some people travel from as near as LA or as far as Europe just to see some of their favorite bands all playing on the same stage in such a lush environment. I would highly recommend it to anybody, just be sure to bring enough sunscreen.
