Cliff Notes for Your Trip

Do you remember that old movie, If It's Tuesday, It Must Be Belgium? All the rush to cover as many places as possible on your trip, and you realize you don't even know where you were when. Here is a simple idea that I kicked myself for not thinking of on my trip. It's so simple it's brilliant. Whether for yourself or to impress your friend with your travel savvy as you give him a cheap but valuable going away present, index cards are perfect for novice or experienced travelers alike. I mean where on earth was that particular church? Do I even know if I was in France or Italy? Was it before or after we left France? Was that the restaurant where we had that great meal? Is this the inside that matches to Beautiful Building A or Beautiful Building B? Were we there on Tuesday or Wednesday? July or August? I suspect you know exactly what I am talking about. You show your pictures back home, and some friend says, “Where were you in that great picture?” You brilliantly have to admit you don't have a clue.

Take a pack of index cards. Label them however it works for your mental would be organizational system. On an index card, write the day of the week, the location, the name of the person you met, the entrance fee, whatever you might want to recall.
Just take a quick picture of the index card, toss it, and pictures for this next portion of your trip will be labeled in spite of your memory. Then at the next church, statue, resort, hotel, just write a new index card (or much preferable and greener is to use the reverse), point, shoot and toss and know the nexr set of pictures will be properly identified. At home when perusing and sharing your 2,859 best and favorite photos of your once in a lifetime trip, your memories and friends will appreciate the help you have given them.
