OK it isn't open yet but will be by the time this goes to press! Scheduled to open June 08 in the Museum District of San Francisco, Daniel Libeskind's dizzying design has bewildered and entranced passers by for the past few years of its construction. A huge metallic "crystal" appears to have literally grown out of the brick-clad 1907 Jessie Street Power Station. Libeskind was said to be inspired by the Hebrew letters of “chai” (life).
This is a nod to Eggleston's picture of a time when air travel was glamorous. Cramped in Coach, there is nothing preventing you from creating your own Bliss : request a window seat; cue your playlist; bring your own teabag and chocolate brioche (latter not pictured). (O)mmmm .....
