Is this where LA is made?
This is the Ennis-Brown house seen from The Hollyhock House, another Frank Lloyd Wright house in Hollywood at the corner of Vermont and Hollywood Blvd. Note the size of the E-B house compared to its neighbors!
At a reception and tour hosted by the LA Deco Society in 2003, Lloyd Wright, Frank Lloyd Wright's Grandson (center) talked about the house, it's importance in the FLW history and how the usual difficult relationship with the client led to final designs not intended by FLW.
The house features many of the famous Frank Lloyd Wright stained glass windows in his trademark patterns. Also note the "Aztec" style blocks.
The entrance to the Ennis-Brown House is in the courtyard. It has the usual FLW low overhang that opens to a spacious entry.
The Sorth side has fared better than the South. Here is the entrance to the courtyard and the rear columns above the pool.
Where else but LA could you see a half-dozen replicas of the "Back to the Future" Delorean? A couple of these are actual movie cars. They gathered at the Art Center in Pasadena for their 2007 design show.
I'll bet this guy works in a body shop where he was able to collect all these car emblems.
This is how the Ennis-Brown House looked in June, 2003. The wall was crumbling. The Getty Center funded shoring up the wall (note the steel beams) to prevent collapse.
Take a look at the new photo posted here to see how it's been repaired.
The Ennis-Brown House is one of Frank Lloyd Wright's masterpieces. It was one of his first concrete houses, which has been one of its problems, as he did not quite get the formula right the first time. It's famous - a movie star many times, including Harrison Ford's residence in 'Blade Runner." It's been damaged by earthquakes, rain, mudslides, etc. putting it on lists of the world's most threatened monuments. A group headed by Diane Keaton is raising money to have it restored. This wall is newly restored from severe damage.

I am an amateur photographer - and have been for about 50 years. I always carry a camera with me, documenting the things I see and like, or just find interesting, often funny or strange.
I have been involved in capturing sports car racing for all that time and am now donating all my old collections to the Watkins Glen, NY International Motor Racing Research Library. I'm also curating others' collections.
Much of my newer work is travel related - the Galapagos Islands, Egypt, Mexico, and...
