St. Mary Lake
Glacier National Park offers some of the most thrilling views of all the U.S. national parks. This shot of St. Mary Lake is from the St. Mary Falls Trail, however, the rather long lake can be viewed fantastically by car from the Going-to-the-Sun Road. $25 vehicle entry.

A Big Surprise
We had been hoping to see some bighorn sheep on our trip to Glacier National Park. We came down a hill on the popular Hidden Lake Overlook trail and there they were just munching away in this alpine meadow. $25 vehicle entry fee.

Stone trees
A side view of a petrified tree in the Petrified Forest National Park. Its colors are as brilliant as the Painted Desert, which spreads itself throughout the park, though it is not officially a protected area. $10 vehicle entry fee.

Raven or Crow?
This raven looks a little like it is dancing on the South Kaibab Trail of the Grand Canyon, but that's not how you can tell the difference between it and a crow. As I learned at a ranger chat, ravens have much larger and more pronounced beaks than crows. Both are considered to be the smartest of all the birds. $25 vehicle entry; ranger chats are free.

Who knew the best place to see both the sunset and sunrise at the Grand Canyon was at Desert Point? Thankfully I was staying at the Desert Point campground to grab this early view. $25 vehicle entry fee.
