This visitor center recently opened and offers historical, ecological and geological information about Lake Tahoe. Next door is a small restaurant with a large deck area for outdoor eating. The view is of Lake Tahoe and the California Sierra Nevadas. Sand Harbor offers secluded beaches, a boat launch, swimming, picnicking and trails for walking and biking.
Sand Harbor recently opened their brand new visitor center. It is steps away from this lovely cove on Lake Tahoe on the Nevada side. The lake water is crystal clear and cold (reaching a high of only 68 degrees F. in the height of summer.) The cove is also bigger than it looks...note the large beach umbrellas on the shore.
The visitor center offers the history and geology of this alpine lake along with a restaurant and patio eating area. There is swimming, hiking, biking, boating and walking trails available. What better place to spend the afternoon?
The gardens and views are quite lovely at this winery. Bring your camera and a picnic basket.
Entering the tasting room through the round top door leads you to a small room with a tasting bar and friendly pourers. The tasting room looks out onto the lovely pond.
