Bryher
In a way, this is now the 'old' old quay. The quay which replaced this, at Higher Town, has since been overtaken by the new quay at Lower Town.
Cromwell's castle guards the entrance to the sheltered channel between Tresco and Bryher. It was built by Oliver Cromwell during the Civil War, after the Roundheads drove the Royalists out of the islands.
The chanel between Tresco (on the right) and Bryher (on the left) is a perfect natural harbour.
Rushy Bay on Bryher, the Isles of Scilly
Isles of Scilly
This is a view of the Isles of Scilly from the western end of St Martins.
Sadly I was on top of Mount Misen at full tide, so I didnt' see the shrine at it's best 'floating' appearance, but it still looks lovely with its interconnecting rooms and halls.
