Todd’s travelogue

Lake Union

Close to downtown Seattle, Lake Union is a glacial lake that is a popular spot for pleasure boaters and is also home to scores of Seattle residents who occupy houseboats there. Its northern portion also connects the larger Lake Washington with a system of locks that lead to the salt waters of Puget Sound.

Coober Pedy

The opal capital of the world. Half of the population of this town lives underground in dugout caves.

Uyuni, traincemetery

Located just north of the salt flat, Salar de Uyuni, lays a Train cemetery.

Out there in the arid and dry plane lies the final resting place of a good dozen steam engines, most of which must be a good hundred years old as well as probably some fifty wagons of all kind of types.

On the Farm in UpCountry Maui

A farm of fresh produce that all the high end restaurants in Maui buy from, will prepare a special meal for you right on the property by famous chef Dan Fiske. It's a meal unlike anything you've ever had.

Highway 80

Stretching from coast to coast of the U.S. highway 80 takes you through just about every different climate and land type the states have to offer.

Shibuya

The "Times Square" of Japan. Every TV Network in Japan will show the "Current Weather Condition" from this exact spot.

Koh Phi Phi

A beautiful set of the Islands on the Andaman coast in southern Thailand. A must see on a trip to this country.

The Wein-O-Rama

Popular for lunch, The Wein-O-Rama is known for its hot weiners (pronounced "weenuhs"). Many, like myself, prefer the Wein-O-Rama for their déclassé moniker and large retro-style sign.

Kayakoy

Kayaköy is the Turkish name given to Levissi, a village 8 km south of Fethiye in southwestern Turkey where Anatolian Greeks lived until approximately 1923. The ghost town, now preserved as a museum village, consists of hundreds of rundown but still mostly intact Greek-style houses and churches which cover a small mountainside and serve as a stopping place for tourists visiting Fethiye and nearby Ölüdeniz.
