Old Yauco Cementery

Old Yauco Cementery

The town of Yauco is well known in Puerto Rico for its coffee. It is located in the south coast of Puerto Rico and the view from the roda is beautiful.
It was settled by families from Corsica in the early 1800's and in this old cemetery there are beautiful mausoleums.
Personaly I love cemeteries.

Clouds

Clouds

The Central mountain range of Puerto Rico creates fantastic view of clouds. The weather is changing by the minute, but not in a bad way.
This photo was taken at 11 am. the town you see at your left is Sabana Grande, and up in the mountains is Maricao. it raine a lot there.

Porta Coeli

Porta Coeli

The door to heaven. That is how this small church built in the early 1600's is called.
Constructed by Franciscan friars in San German, Puerto Rico, it is today a religious art museum.
The church was transfered to the government in the mid 1940's and was restored in the 1980's.

The needle

The needle

This si how I call this rock formation located in the south westernmost part of Puerto Rico.
The cliffs are part of the Cabo Rojo lighthouse preserve. it is barren, windy, off road to get to place that serves as a perfect escape from every day stress.
The nearby beach is bautiful and clean, secluded during weekdays and in the middle of a salt lagoon that offers plenty of wildlife if that is what you dig.
A perfect place to bring your camera to snap some good shots.

Sunset

Sunset

I took this on the grounds of the Cabo Rojo lighthouse in western Puerto Rico.
This place is a marshy land full of salt lagoons that harbor migratory and local birds, crustaceans of all sorts, lizards and also srves as fish hatchery. The bad part is that late afternoon, right about 2 minutes after taking this photo, the mangrove mosquitoes come out to suck blood and they are really mean.
This place is now a natural preserve and a worthwhile trip is you are a tourist in the area and want to experience something different away from the beaten path.
These red mangrove trees are planted by Fish and Wildlife in an effort to expand the samp and avoid erosion. You can see the PVC tubes used to give then protection until the root are strong enough.

Hermita La Monserrate

Hermita La Monserrate

Entrance to the hermita de Nuestra SeƱora de la Monserrate in Hormigueros, Puerto Rico.
The church is built on a hill. Worshipers pay their promises by walking all the way from their hometowns to the church and climbing sometimes the setps on their knees.
It was recently restored and has the feeling of a very old church inside. it's very cozy.

I am psychiatrist. I get paid to listen to people all day. I love it. I guess I'm some kind of voyeur. Photography is perfect for me.
I fell in love with it since college but never had the time to really invest in it. To busy studying and working. Now the kids are a little older, and even though I have to work my ass off I can't postpone it anymore. So I guess this is it. I'm relatively new in this. I don't expect to be the best, just to have fun doing it and share it with ...
