Romainmôtier is one of the oldest medieval villages in Switzerland. It is located in the canton of Vaud (capital Lausanne). The abbey of Saint Peter and Saint Paul is the oldest medieval building, of Romance style, in Switzerland.
This is the largest lake entirely Swiss, placing third after Lake Geneva (shared by Switzerland and France) and Lake Constance (shared between Switzerland, Germany and Austria). Its surface is 429 m above sea-level, and has a maximum depth of 152 m.
This museum, situated in Berne, opened its doors on 20th June 2005. The magnificant architecture is the work of renowned Italian architect Renzo Piano. The three hills of steel and glass emerge in the form of three undulating waves. The building itself is worth visiting.
This is in front of the Alimentarium or Food Museum in Vevey. Created by Jean-Pierre Zaugg of Neuchâtel, the work was carried out by Georges Favre of Vevey, in stainless steel.
The square in front of the UN building is an obvious gathering place for those who wish to make a point. The giant Broken Chair which looms over it was installed in 1997 for the international conference at Ottawa banning the use of land mines, in honour of the victims of such weapons.
