The Tasting Room

The Tasting Room

Living in a major wine region here in Germany, we enjoy the ability to go and select our wines...right where they are grown and produced. In small rooms just off the courtyard of most wineries is a cozy room, decorated normally in wine production antiques. If you are lucky you can join in with another couple also in search of the perfect vintage...so a nice dialog during the tasting can be enjoyed.

Tools of the Trade

Tools of the Trade

VERY important, you can not have spargel, (white asparagus) with out the proper equipment. Because it lacks the chlorophyll making it the normal color green...Spargel seems to be a bit tougher than it's green variety so you must peel the ends a bit...and that is where these wonderfully tough Spargel peelers come in. In the Fields

In the Fields

The endless rows of Spargel, (white asparagus) in the fields along the Badischer Spargelstrasse or Baden Württemburgs White asparagus route. It is a typical landscape for this region. The asparagus is grown in these covered mounds and deprived of light thus making it white.

Schwetzingen at Night

Schwetzingen at Night

Schwetzingen and Spargel are not easily separated. It is I believe the Spargel, (white asparagus) capital and it grown in the fields in the surrounding country side. Spargel is highly celebrated here in Germany and believed to have a great benefit to health.

Gimmeldingen Almond Blossoms

Gimmeldingen Almond Blossoms

The quaint wine village of Gimmeldingen along the German Wine Route each year has an amazing display of Almond blossoms. Their festival, located on the top of a gently sloping vineyard hillside surrounded by the the blush pink of blooming Almond trees, serves nothing but cake and coffee...but what a sight to behold.
