A beach-goer walks into the sunset on San Francisco's Ocean Beach.
The island is Phantom Ship, one of only two islands in Crater Lake. If you can believe it, this photo has not been saturated at all - the water is that deep a blue.
The setting sun breaks through a small Joshua tree - Joshua Tree National Park
Like crows on steroids, these large birds play an important role in Yellowstone's ecosystem. Ravens have a somewhat symbiotic relationship with Yellowstone's wolves. They arrive at a wolf kill in no later than two minutes (!) and lead wolves to other scavenging opportunities.
Two distinct heat-loving micro-organisms, called thermophiles, co-exist in a hot springs drainage in Yellowstone National Park. The heated water varies only a few degrees between the two areas!
Some of the fascinating stages of an Artists Paintpots spot. I could sit and watch these guys all day.
Looking like something from an electron microscope, thermophiles pile onto anything they can get a hold of in a Yellowstone hot spring.
Drops of 35 and 67 feet respectively, Colonnade Falls is a rare sight for Yellowstone visitors. (You have to hike quite a ways - but it's worth it!)
The area along the Bechler River trail is called Waterfall Wonderland for good reason - there's an amazing amount of epic falls in the area.
Prime moose country, alas none were to be found this afternoon in Willow Flats, Grand Teton National Park.
