The intersection of main street in the capital of Bhutan, Thimpu. It is the only national capital without street lights. Traffic seems to pay no attention what-so-ever to the man in the kiosk.
We went to Norway and were cruising the fjord at Stavanger. It was cold and we were headed into a headwind, and headed fast. Tim was testing the wind--look at his toes. It wasn't long before we rushed downstairs to escape the biting fjord wind and cold.
We were flying to the UK from the east coast. Why must these flights go through the night? I need to sleep in a bed, not sitting up in an airplane seat. Anyway, I was trying to find a way to pass the time and noticed the sun coming up and grabbed a few shots through the window. I have nice equipment, Leica, and laughed that I was taking pictures through one inch plexiglass. Even at that, a nice picture, I think. Morning brings welcome light and the prospect of landing soon.
Jerusalem has churches and churches have domes and standing below one, which is the only source of light in nave, in a city like Jerusalem, is a difficult experience to describe. It is best to simply stand in silence.

The winter blues get the fly fishing author to thinking of the rivers of South America, where it is summer.
I have visited five of the seven continents, been high and low, seen this, that and the other thing. And when people ask me my favorite place in all the world, I tell them Maine. It's the air, the water, the food, the light, and people. I have been returning to Maine for thirty years, since guiding the Alagash as a young man, and I never tire of the place. This panoramic shot on Casco Bay as the sun was setting captures the easy quiet of the place. Can you hear the wind in the sails?
We were awaiting the arrival of the ferry to Isle of Skye. It was morning in Mallag, Scotland, raining (of course) and dreary. But the harbor held promise of a new adventure and I was not disappointed. I am a seasoned traveler. But The Scottish Highlands and Isle of Skye swept me off my feet. I cannot recommend the journey enough.

I am (in search of a noun): I am a business owner. I am a photographer. I am a gallery director. I am a traveler. I am a writer. I am that I am--is that out of line, albeit a great line? I live on the Right Coast, need more pages in my passport, developed wanderlust as a young lad, it alighting on me out of no-freak'n-where, and I have enjoyed (and suffered) the consequences ever since.
