new orleans sunset view

Working in my hotel room at a conference in New Orleans. I snapped this little self portrait/landscape as the sun went down, with Canal Street leading off towards the horizon.

If you take the ferry across the Mississippi from downtown New Orleans to Algiers, you can find a wonderful bike path along the levy.

Its a little strange to be looking down on such a flat landscape. Not too far down the river though, you'll find tons of fuel docks.

I had to wonder what storm damaged the sign and whether or not they would fix it, and who they were advertising to to begin with.

Everywhere you go in New Orleans there are signs of past festivals -- beads are everywhere, spread far and wide through the city.

These were freshly minted beads thrown from an Easter Parade. Missed or misthrown, i almost dread to think about where a large percentage of these beads end up.

How To Ramble

A introduction to the fine art of rambling, how to discover all the places between your destinations with some guidelines and a packing list.

An old rusted railway drawbridge stands open above a waterway that empties into the bay alongside California's oldest and best known prison: San Quentin (seen in the distance).

It's always a pleasure to meet friendly cats when wandering a neighborhood.

This one in Bernal Heights of San Francisco was pleased to sit for a portrait.

And lo,

And lo,

Sutro Tower appears above the fog and below the clouds, amidst beams of sunlight.

I was biking up and down Potrero Hill trying to get good shots of the evening's amazing cloudscapes when I found this shot.
