The Indian festival 'Holi' celebrates the arrival of Spring - with vibrantly colored powers and paints liberally thrown onto anyone who happens to be outside on this day. Lots of fun - and in order to capture it (with some respect for your camera), it's best not to be on the streets amongst the action. I had a little appartment which over looked the alleyways of the Jaisalmer Fort - so I took this photo from a balcony which overlooked the streets.
A boat is moored for the day as the round sun sets behind it.
A view from my guesthouse balcony in Kochi - the coconut palm trees are plentiful in tropical South India, and the style of architecture is slighly box like with open air rooftop spaces.
My first morning in Kochi, I went for a walk along the beach. I stood and observed a group of kids doing acrobatics - and eventually I asked if I could photograph them. Naturally, being Indians, they were all too pleased with the attention and interaction - so I got to shoot them doing their stunts.
The boys gave me their postal address, and I ended up posting some of the shots back to them when I arrived back home in Australia.
Cricket is a popular Indian past time, and these boys were having fun playing a game in an alleyway. Many buildings and houses are painted with bright and interesting colours.
Giant Chinese fishing nets looking like huge preying mantis' line the beach of Fort Cochin. They are operated during certain hours of the day by three or four men who do strenuous work - lowering and raising the nets into the water by rope and pulley systems.
A group of Indians stand at the edge of the water in front of one of the many Chinese fishing nets, taking in the moment on a weekend afternoon.
There was smoke poring out of the hole as can be seen in the photo, when I was there in February 07. It was also deserted of any other people most of the time, certainly no other tourists which was interesting.
In 1814, Mt. Mayon erupted and devastated the surrounding communities. This is what remained of the Cagsawa church, whose bell tower has remained standing as a mute testimony of the enormous disaster caused by flowing lava.
With 47 recorded eruptions, Mt Mayon is an active volcanoe which stands proud in South Luzon. It is a perfectly shaped volcano - one can say its the Philippine equivalent of Mount Fuji in Japan. The volcano is situated 15 kilometres northwest of Legazpi City.

I am a photographer from Brisbane, Australia - and one of the joys for me (outside my musical profession) is travelling and capturing moments of life and beauty through photography.
My favourite styles of photography are portraiture and landscape. Also, in general, I prefer shots which contain an element of 'cannot be captured exactly again'; that is expressive people shots, action shots and any scenario with a unique aspect to it.
