Stand at the Base
At the main temple, be sure to stand at the base of the stairs, about six feet back and clap, hard as you can.
Pay attention to what you hear coming back at you. The knowledge and the precision required for such a thing is incredible.

When visiting Chichen Itza, spend the money and hire a guide for an hour or so. They are a wealth of information on the culture and history of this amazing place.
