Welcome Signal
A performance by the island folks, as they welcomed visitors for a day trip. The heat was oppressive, and yet the dancers were as great as ever, capping the show off by cooking us lunch in a freshly dug earthen oven. Grammar School in Fiji
A day trip to a Fijian school, and what a great experience. We sat with the kids as they read their schoolbooks to us, played soccer with them, and participated in a kava ceremony with the teachers. It was the best thing I think we did in Fiji. We had a lot more to learn from them than they did from us. Photo by Shannon Hady.

Sundown
A gigantic boat that will likely never see the water again stood on the north side of the island like a sentry. We weren't supposed to go into the water after dark for fear of the stingrays coming up to feed on the smaller fish at night. Every night the clouds seemed to clear away and leave us with a clean night sky. Photo by Shannon Hady.
