The handicraft of San Gimignano
The agrarian community of this Tuscan town produces many wonderful things including traditional pastry - panforte, cantucci, nocini and such in their pristine glory, the famed white wine. Vernaccia, and to-die for spicy pork dish, Chingiale! The lanes of the walled-city take you past a host of kiosks that put out the unusual agro-handicraft!

the medieval hi-rises of San Gimignano
Early one misty monring as we rolled into the Tuscan heart land. This set of amazingly tall structures, loomed in the horizon, above vine-yeards and other rural greenery. If it could stun and leave us with mouth-open, jsut imagine what it did to the pilgrims, traders and others moving on the Rome-Canterbury route in the 1200-1300s?

the skyscrapers of San Gimignano
These Tuscan hi-rises were constructed in early medieval times - both to store agricutural produce and trading commodities, as well as luxurious condos. Since there were many marauders and bandits, San Gimignano protected itself in stone walls. As space was limited, residents and business people had to go vertical.

I have travelled widely - USA, Europe and Asia including India.
I like music - from smooth jazz to the Beatles/Cold Play to the Classics.
I am into yoga, golf, cinema, reading...
Ocassionally I do chairty work - run medical camps for the needy, help poor children in studies.
