The caretakers of Altyn Arashan live in this quaint little cottage in the valley.
You're supposed to run back and forth between the hot springs and the nearby river. It was so cold that my friends only did this once.
The sheds housing the hot springs are located next to the river.
The first of the concrete sheds at Altyn Arashan is the only one in which you can use soap... this way you can wash off before lounging in the other springs. My friend Sasha took full advantage of this opportunity.
The sheds housing the hot springs of Altyn Arashan are made of concrete and topped with tin - not exactly what you'd expect from a day at the spa - but the hot water is soothing in contrast to the cold mountain air, and the view through the open door is phenomenal.

The first view of the valley was stunning... and we found ourselves spontaneously breaking out into songs from The Sound of Music.
