Pfeiffer Beach
The Pfeiffer State Park trails in Big Sur were closed for maintenance, so we decided to pull over to try to see Pfeiffer Beach from the road. What an awesome roadside attraction! We found a nice shady spot and had lunch overlooking this view.
I may have gotten a better shot than I would have if the trails were open..but, within minutes, our parked car attracted about 10 more and handfuls of tourists poured out to take the same picture!

Salinas
Salinas, California is the land of strawberries, lettuce, Steinbeck… and giant cutout figures of fieldworkers.
It started with roadside murals depicting baseball games, traffic accidents, and monstrous artichokes, but over the last ten years, artist John Cerney has accented the landscape of the Salinas Valley with his cutout portraits of farmers and fieldworkers. The figures are three times human size, and thus, easily visible from the comfort of your vehicle. These "giant cardboard cutouts on Highway 68" are a roadside attraction that you can really enjoy from the road.

The Nativity Facade, which faces east to the rising sun and represents the birth of Jesus, was built before work was interrupted in 1935 and bears the most direct influence of Gaudi.

Color of the forest

120 years
Gaudi's masterpiece, La Sagrada Familia, has been under construction since 1882. The original plans were destroyed by anarchists during Spain's civil war, which has made it difficult to complete the cathedral in the manner Gaudi would have wished.

Bench at Park Guell
This mosaicked bench snakes its way around the main square in Barcelona's Park Guell and is possibly the longest in the world. Jujol tiled the bench that surrounds the square using handmade ceramics and even added color and graffiti (such as crosses, prayers, and his own signature) to many of the tiles before re-firing them. Guadi is said to have used seated workers as models for the shapes of the bench.
