Monterey California was the major port on the Pacific Ocean when the Fisherman's Wharf was built in 1846. It is still a fully-functioning pier, however it is also now home to world-famous dining and whale watching trips.
Carmel Mission
A beautiful day to complement the charming Carmel Mission.
You will be hard pressed to find such awe-inspiring back country as Graveyard and Peter Pandy Lakes in the John Muir Wilderness.
This shot was taken from our hillside bungalow at Charm Churee Villa, on Ko Tao, Thailand. Each "room" is really a unique free-standing cabin built right onto the rocky hillside. A two minute hike takes you down to the resort's private cove for a relaxing day of snorkeling and pineapple milk shakes. If you are wondering what paradise is like, here it is.
During the winter, the Sacramento River floods the Yolo Basin and for months visitors are confused to find a "lake" between Sacramento, and neighboring college town, Davis. In summer, the 90 degree heat dries and cracks the land and, by July, the area is bursting with wild sunflowers. A brilliant sunset behind this forest of flowers was the perfect end to my day.
Big Sur is an absolute Must See section of the California coast. Explore beach-side waterfalls or camp under the redwood trees in Julia Phiffer State Park. Stunning rocky cliffs accent the drive down Highway 1 - I definitely recommend the passenger's seat for this ride and view!
