These planters are in the jungle/ecological reserve at the Hacienda Chichen, founded in
the 15th century with a vast history that includes a period during 19th century as a sisal plantation -now as a luxury hotel/spa it has an olympic swimming pool beneath ginormous palm trees, fine dining and it is just steps away from Chichen Itza.

Subtle shadow accentuates the even horizontal line of canopy's underside and the blackness of the trunk is heightened.
These things create an in-between zone in the digital image, creating a place for the eye to rest. It would probably be a good place to sit too. What would it look like underneath that canopy? But we can only gaze and imagine. Freestone...
