sculpture based on the premise that a tree is a gathering place for people - providing shade. The tilted ground plane is skinned with recycled rubber tires. In the evening it glows with computer controlled led lights that change colors every few minutes. The seats are supposed to be roots.
The Flon is first, the name of a river that has been buried in ordered to construct an enormous portion of the city. Secondly, it is a post-industrial, post-artist enclave, chic techno-art laboratory where bars and restaurants are found. The building w/ the triangles is not inhabited. It is a structure with a glass and teflon fabric skin that hides infrastructure, the pergola is made of aluminum tiles that shimmer with led lights at night and make a great sound with the wind. the ground is decomposed native molasse

My new thing is taking pictures when I'm stuck in traffic. It makes me yearn for traffic instead of loathe it. In the Bay Area, this attitude shift is helpful. I took this from the driver's side while going around 10-15mph - the raindrops on the side window reflected the light or maybe the glass had something to do with a solar flare kinda thing...
Vaccinium macrocarpon, is a low shrubby plant. This bog belongs to a friend and her family has owned it for generations. It's a natural bog - meaning it's pretty mucky all year round - if you step on it, you sink into it, pretty deep. They control the water flow into the bog in order to get the harvest. My big idea is Cranberry Coke - Croke or Cranke - my friend hasn't pursued it, but I think there's something to it...

One of the beautiful things about Christo's work is that he makes the ephemeral nature of our individual travel experiences apparent. One can go Central Park, but noone can ever go to this place again.
