This was a gem of a find from my sister in law for our trip to Umbria and most specifically, Assisi. The hotel rests between the town above and the valley below. More to come.

Just down the hill from the the town of Assisi, is this gorgeous Country House turned hotel, perfect for families with a great view of the town and an excellent pool for those hot Italian summers. More coming

Pizza in Perugia

Pizza in Perugia

This gorgeous grilled veggie pizza which looks more like a salad than a pizza was a delight to enjoy in Perugia, the capital of Umbria in Italy. My mouth waters just remembering the amazing taste and smell of the pizza in Italy. I blame this trip for competely changing my taste for typical American pizza, most of which I can now longer even stand to eat. Luckily for me, my hometown has a great "Little Italy" which makes creations similar to those found, but it still is not quite the same.

Pizza In Assissi

Pizza In Assissi

It started a few years back on another tip to Europe when I realized how beautiful much of the food is. While in Italy, there are just some things you have to have to really experience the local flavor and one is pizza. These are not American pizzas loaded with cheese and thick crusts, these are originals and have thin crispy crusts with the most amazing fresh ingredients, and not always the typical ones you see. I swear I couldn't eat pizza in America for months after because it just didn't compare!

Remember the Alamo

Remember the Alamo

Made famous in a song about Davy Crockett, a frontiersman who fought in the battle of the Alamo, the actual building has been standing since the 1700s. It played a major role in the Texas Revolution in the 1800s. It remains one of the largest tourist attractions and hallowed ground to locals in the state of Texas and the City of San Antonio.

Hot Evening in San Antonio

Hot Evening in San Antonio

Despite it being a hot and humid evening along the River Walk in San Antonio, the area was lined with tourists and locals alike. Many stopped by this local ice cream shop that night to help cool off. The River Walk is an intricate series of walkways along the San Antonio River that connect the city's tourist attractions, including the Alamo.

View Down to River Walk

From the automobile level of the streets of San Antonio, you can look down at the popular and famous River Walk area, lined with colorful restaurants. Large barges like the one shown here take special groups along the river where they can eat and drink as well while enjoying the sites of the city.

Church of Lady Guadalupe, Puerto Vallarta

Church of Lady Guadalupe, Puerto Vallarta

On this afternoon, this church was quite busy as we approached it because it was Ash Wednesday and there were services going on. Most of the tourists, including us, had to just peak inside because no shorts allowed.

Puerto Vallarta's Permanent Residents

Puerto Vallarta's Permanent Residents

On a midday cruise ship stop in Puerto Vallarta, I captured these pigeons surrounded tourists and locals in a small area of town square. This is not quite as many pigeons as I encountered in Venice a few years back, but both sets of pigeons were looking to their human counterparts for food.
