Mt Sefton, draped in 3 glaciers, dominates the view as you walk the trail to the Hooker Valley. The Mueller Glacier can be seen to your left, exposing debris as it slowly melts.

It was early spring and still bitterly cold. My fiancé and I were camping in the back of a 24 year old station wagon and woke up to the locks and doors of the car frozen shut. I could see the first rays of light hitting the top of Aoraki (Mt Cook) through the frozen windows but couldn’t get out! Free of the car, we raced to the viewing platform just in time for the breeze to die down and the reflections to be crystal clear. Lake Matheson, Westland Tai Poutini National Park, New Zealand.
The Vietnamese have an uncanny way of being able to tell when it's about to rain and carry plastic ponchos under the seats of their bikes. As the heavens open, and you're caught unawares, you can do nothing but stand there, soggy and marvel at them all zooming around, undeterred by the torrential downpour.

Crossing the road in Vietnam is an adventure in itself and not for the faint hearted. The key is to walk slowly and let the bikes part around you!
