When the life guards go at 5 PM, the surfers bring their boards, the kayaks come out, and the waves are for anyone to ride. My family has been going"down the shore" for over 25 years. I look forward to Water Ice and "the Point". Stone Harbor is part of Seven Mile Island and when the tide is low, we walk down to "the Point", and search for sea shells. At night, we walk down to the beach to watch the fireworks from Wild Wood or to see the moon making silver pathways on the waves.
The Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art is located on the Western side of the state and is surrounded by beautify mountains and countryside. North Adams once housed the Arnold Print Works textile printing and dying house and then during World War 2, Sprague Electric. The old brick buildings have been rebuilt on the inside to house ground breaking new art and music. History and new ground compliment each other as you walk through the galleries or sit in the performing arts spaces. Mass MoCA is definitely some place to be experienced, if only to see the upside down trees!
A cozy bed and breakfast located in the woods of Huntington Mills. Each room has a theme reminding you of your grandmother's house or bunking with your kid brother. The floors and ceilings are golden hued wood, rag rugs warm your feet and Amish quilts are close at hand to make you feel at home. Warm muffins and hot coffee are only the beginning of your breakfast treats!
Frank Lloyd Wright's Falling Water house was an amazing sight to see. He was truly a master of detail - taking into consideration the size of the house, how it was to be used, and the people who visited it. This is the "postcard" shot of the house. I only wish I could have visited in fall with the leaves afire and drifting in the river.
Touted as one of the ten most beautiful sights in the United States is the view of Pittsburgh from the Duquesne Incline.
In a former coal town, the atmosphere is much like this photo - sort of gray. This site may be rebuilt to embrace our coal history but also our future. The past needs to be preserved, but does not always need to be pretty.
