This youngster pets the goat rather reluctantly because she says the hair is prickly.

The barnyard is a very popular part of the zoo. Children love interacting with the animals, and it seems like the animals enjoy the attention as well.

These really are pink flamingos, but the brilliant sun makes them seem almost white.

Although the quality of this photo is a bit diminished by the glare on the glass, I wanted you to see one of the monkeys. I don't recall this little guys technical name, but he sure liked posing for me.

The bears enjoy their own private pool in the summer sun.

Skagit Valley Tulips

Skagit Valley Tulips

Soft pink has to be one of the favorite colors for Washington State tulips. To me, they look almost edible.

Some views make you wonder if anything else exists here other than mountains and fields of tulips.

One can only envy the locals who are lucky enough to live right next to these fields of color. Be sure to respect their private properties when you visit.

Be sure to ask those guiding the tours just how the growers go about deciding which colors they want in which fields. And, how do they get those varigated blooms?

I am a professional photographer from Redding, California. I have enjoyed photography since my teenage years, but only got serious while living in northwest Washington. The mountains, the streams, the wildlife, the woods--it's just one of the most fabulous places I ever seen. I also enjoy people photography doing mostly family portraiture, high school seniors and some commercial model/product work. I look forward to establishing a great association with Everywhere Magazine.
