Spertus Institute (entrance) - Chicago

In November 2007, the Spertus Institute opened its contemporary doors. The institute has offered Jewish educational opportunities by means of a college, library and museum since the 1920's. It now presents itself as an architectual force amongst so many other Chicago gems. Stop by the museum that reflects the Jewish life and culture at 610 S. Michigan Avenue. All people and backgrounds are welcome.

Cusco Woman with Dogs

Cusco Woman with Dogs

Sitting on the stairs in front of the Cathedral of Cusco waiting for the church to open, I noticed this woman with her two dog soaking up the sun. She couldn't have been much taller than 5 feet tall, if that.

Peruvian Rainforest Art

Peruvian Rainforest Art

I bought this piece of cloth at a lodge we stayed at in the Peruvian rainforest. The cabin's were decorated with these pieces of "maze art." I inquired about the pieces and was told that women from a local rainforest tribe drew them by hand. The maze is said to represent the journey we take in life. What I like best is that each side appears to be a mirrored image of the other but if you look closely there is little consistency. The lodge sold me this 12" X 26" piece for $5 USD.

I am middle-aged. That alone scares the hell out of me. Work tends to get in the way of the travel desires of my partner and I. There are too many places to visit and not enough time or money. We strive to take 2 trips a year, one domestic & one outside the US. The world's an amazing place; we plan to see as much of it as we possibly can!
