Just off the famous Galata bridge in the Eminönü neighboordhoud a big and old market-hall stands in front of you, Istanbul's Egyptian Bazaar. This spice market was built in 1664 and is filled with exotic fragrances such as spices, dried fruits, nuts and seeds, lokum (Turkish Delight). Around the Bazaar you find many more stalls, with the Uzunçarsi Caddesi ("Longmarket Street") going up leading to the Covered Bazaar (Grand Bazaar).
My window is on Istanbul. I stayed here for four months summer 2007 with the aim of trying to understand the city. The coming weeks I will show some of the best photos I took here, as well as a story on life in Istanbul.

Hi, I am Robin and I live in Amsterdam where I am exploring new paths for (photographic) storytelling & host travelers. Traveling is a blessing for me. In 2007, after three years of Barcelona, I went through Europe by thumb and lived for 4 months in Istanbul.
I love to live and learn by sharing. Absurd randomness and to explore the moment are key for me. And I love to eat varied, green and yellow.
I also have a profile over at JPG Magazine.
