Traffic

Traffic

Ho Chi Minh City is notorious for its traffic and buzzing motorbikes. Amazingly, we only saw one minor wreck while we were there. Crossing the street, you take your life in your hands (and feet).

Souvenirs

Souvenirs

I'm pretty sure that's not standard U.S. Army issue...

Interestingly, though, you could get Zippo-type lighters with various insignia welded to them, dog-tags, and other "authentic" items. It was hard to tell what was truly a relic from the war, and what was just some cheap fabrication. I felt awkward about buying any of the "memorabilia," especially the dog-tags, which may or may not have belonged to Soldiers who fought there. It seemed exploitative to me.

David Fugazzotto has been a member since 8 June 2008 and goes by sandandtsunamis.

Currently in Texas.

I am a distant descendant of one of Lewis and Clark's men, so my love of travel is probably genetic. My goal of yearly international travel has been helped considerably by my work, which has allowed me to live in such places as Egypt, Somalia, Haiti, Saudi Arabia, and most recently, Japan. I never travel without a camera, and consider it my second most important traveling companion, after my wife, Melody.
