This is a panorama stitched together from several shots taken from the roof of my house in Russian Hill.It was taken during the holiday time when the Embarcadero center is lit up. The sky is not quite dark yet, but the lights are already on on the city

John Davis emerges from the waters of Aquatic Park after a swim with his friend Bob. The water is a balmy 56 degrees at this time of the year, but John swims year-round, even when the temperature dips into the 40s.
In the background you can see the historic three-master Balclutha and the steamwheelboat "Appleton Hall"
The "Old Goats" are a group of senior swimmers who plunge into the chilly waters of San Francisco Bay year-round. Some of them have been members of the Dolphin Club since the 1930's and they like to sit around the club telling stories of the old times. Here are Bpb McKenzie, Joe Farrar and Walt Schneebeli.
Jimmy Sancimino of Swans Oyster Depot knows Crab! His family has been serving the best seafood around for generations and every day there is a long line of customers waiting for a seat at their small Polk street restaurant. Jimmy and his brothers dish up chowder, crab, and the freshest fish every day.
I encountered these two dressed in full business attire including briefcases, cellphones and suitbag in the middle of the playa. They were looking for a ride to the airport. I loved their dedication at 100 degrees F, and the tongue in cheek understatement of their outfits, in an environment where most people wore sequins, pink fur, skintight lycra or nothing at all.
Walking the streets of Antigua, Guatemala at 6 am in April 2006, with my Holga. I was looking for a good cup of coffee. A newspaper vendor had taken up position in the corner, and the famous Chicken busses were rattling down the cobble-stoned streets -- so named because one can encounter quite a bit of livestock while riding them. Later, at the airport on my way home, I said to the security agent: "This is film, pelicula, don't xray, ok?" and he said: "Ok, ok, no problema signora" Then he took the bag and put it right through the x-ray machine. What was I to do at that point? But I kind of like the way the photo turned out.
