Sticky Rice Sticks

Sticky Rice Sticks

A favorite in the small towns of Thailand is Sticky Rice. These had Banana and Mango in them. I was in a small village in the province of Surat Thani, Thailand where I stayed with a family and lived like a Thai for 4 days. It was a simple life, up at 4am to farm the rubber trees, then start laundry, cook the food for the day, and of course, nap. I was a village "hit" as many stopped by to see the "Farrang" (westerner) because they had not seen one up so close. It was an enjoyable experience.

Krabi

Krabi

The beaches of Thailand are arguably the best in the world. Everywhere you go you find natural beauty, amazing culture, and the nicest people in the world. I have been 7 times now and am already planning my next trip. This picture was taken at Krabi, on Aong beach. Its a nice place, more local tourists than westerners. Don't worry, there is still a Mc'D's there.

Lazy days

Lazy days

Another trip to Thailand this last week, and of course I love to go to the temples, explore all there is to see. This was a temple on the side of the road with a large reclining buddha. Upon coming around a post, I saw these puppies sleeping. There were about 5 more hiding under some garbage a few feet away. In the back ground you can see the reclining buddha.

New Experimental Ball Bat

New Experimental Ball Bat

Louisville, a town known for horse racing and Louisville Slugger Bats. An obvious sign that you have found the "Slugger" factory is this 4 story tall base ball bat. There is also a bat museum tour where you can watch the bats being made from beginning to end. Its a nice tour and you get the baby from this bat as a souvineer when you leave. Its great for kids and adults alike. The city is a nice place to walk around. I also suggest the small museum near this. Also the city "Heads" are sure to catch your attention.

Coliseo Magnifico

Coliseo Magnifico

For anyone who has never visited the Coliseum in Rome, you should pack your bags and go. The whole city is hands on history lessons. This particular morning was cold keeping some tourists in bed. I was about the 10th person into the Coliseum and had the run of the place. I just couldn't take enough pictures of it, after all this place has captured the imagination of all through films or reading. Everywhere you turn is a great photo opportunity. Just to think about walking around where others walked more than 2000 years ago!

The Roots of Life

The Roots of Life

Ayuthaya Thailand! A great place to visit for those who love history, temples, and ancient ruins. Here at Wat Mahathat, you can see the budda head entangled into the vines of a bodhi tree. About 700 - 1000 years ago, the Thai people and Burmese (Myanmar) were constantly fighting. Each time Burma would win, they would sack the temples and cut the heads off all the budda statues. One was thrown here, the tree roots caught it. Its quite a draw for the locals and farrangs alike. However, the locals don't seem much interested in the rest of the temples.

James Bond Island

James Bond Island

In Phucket Thailand, one of the most famous islands in the world, there are many things to do. I took a sea cave canoeing trip to the Phang Nga Islands. It was a great day. They took us to this island which they call "James Bond Island" after one of the early James Bond Films, Tomorrow Never Dies. What a great trip. I took about 30 pictures of the is rock. Its amazing it hasn't fallen over in a storm. There are others similar in the area. It's a must for the scenic views, cliffs, and caves!

Gilligan's Hideaway

Gilligan's Hideaway

If I were Gilligan, this is where I would be. I would move out of the Skippers' hut and build my own right here. This was taken on Koh Samui, Thailand. You simply cannot take enough pictures of Thailand and what it has to offer. I took this on my motorbike tour of the Island. I paid a local to ride with me and show me some of the places most tourists (or Farrang) wouldn't see or know about. I definately recieved my $10 worth.

Pirates' Sunset

Pirates' Sunset

I was looking around my hotel in Phangan Thailand, found a bar that you can only get to from the beach. So, I decided to go see this "Pirate Bar". Tucked against a small cliff inside of a small cove was the Pirate Bar with no customers. So, I decided to get a few pictures and took about 20. I enjoyed the sunset on the particular beach we were staying at, and this sunset promised to be every bit as nice. This picture ended up being one of my best pictures of my trip.

Hidden City

Hidden City

Actually, its not lost at all. These are some temples in Ayudaya Thailand. About an hour northeast of Bangkok. What a great place to see history Westerners don't learn in school. I spent 2 days there and still did not see all. I was walking away to leave, and this was the last picture I took of my trip to Ayudaya. Ended up being one of my best. I think it gives you the Hidden or Lost city appearance, even though it's in the middle of a decent size city.

I am a father, husband, and family man. I love to travel and experience different cultures, historical places, and just watch the sunrise and sunsets. As a hobby I take photographs serious, trying to capture different aspects of a particular place. Sometimes when I am lucky, I find that right mixture and make what I consider a great photograph.
