The sun was setting to my back over the Pacific as we were near the top of Cerro de la Muerte and these clouds were over the Atlantic. On clear days you can see both from one spot. It is just up the mountain from QERC in a zone called the "paramo" with the bamboo coming up to our knees.
Just a bit of the feeling of the cloud forest. It doesn't always rain, but the clouds condense on the trees causing it to "rain" from the tree-tops down.
One of the great swimming spots at Manuel Antonio Par.
View of the coastline at Manuel Antonio Park.
Great sandy beach a few kilometers south of Domincal.
This is the scene you will often see if the sun is out when you turn off the Pan American Highway. Cerro del Muerte ("Mountain of Death"). is in the background behind and under the clouds.
A night shot from across the Rio Savegre.
One of the many flowers frequently in bloom inside the Crystal Bridge.
Fall colors on some of the trees at the Myriad Gardens with some of the downtown buildings showing in the background. The Crystal Bridge is to the right.

I am a molecular biologist who loves photography. I love the small things in life (macros, sEM's, and tEM's) but I never fell in love with the dark room when I had to use negatives. I didn't liked the chemicals, the baths, or the timers, so it was a really easy transition to digital cameras and Photoshop! My job position makes me the director of our fieldstation QERC in Costa Rica so this has planted an interest in me in the environment, the montane cloud forests and the respelendent...
