James’ travelogue

The Alex

The Alex

The view from out hotel room at 'The Alex' hotel on 205 East 45th Street, New York. Was a very overcast day so decided to use some HDR to avoid losing details in the photo.

Could see the Pepsi cola sign in Queens and obviously a great view of the Chrysler Building.

The room was very stylish, with large wardrobes hiding the tv, hi-fi and even a desk.

Excelsior night

Excelsior night

The amazing view from the Excelsior hotel on 45th west 81st street. Right next to central park , the planetarium and the Natural history museum. You can see the bright glow from Times Square going up into the sky.

I fell in love with New York during my stay, the highlight being Greenwich Village, that has a great small town atmosphere, while still being in the middle of such a metropolis.

Sandy Hook

Sandy Hook

This photo cant convey just how hot it was that day. It was nice to walk around the area as it seemed to be deserted!

Point Pleasant

Point Pleasant

We were only there for a morning, but it strangely reminded us of an English sea side town, although with much nicer weather!

Games and shops full of little tourist kitsch, it was great. This is a view of the boardwalk, with beach houses on the left.
