Who's stacking these rocks?

Our local friends had been driving us along the shore of Oahu's windward side, stopping along different sights, parks and beaches along the way. We pulled over across the street from the Crouching Lion Inn, asking if we wanted to see it.

My two friends from the mainland and I looked at each other, shrugged. Nah.

"You sure?" Vanessa asked us. "You don't want to take any pictures or anything?"

Sarcastically, I poked my camera out the window and snapped. "Got it. Let's go."

I'm still not sure who's stacking rocks all over, and why.

I did! I took the frame out on the inside for extra vignetting.

It's funny, as I was reading your story, I flashed back to when I was a child. I grew up on Oahu and remember eating at the Crouching Lion several times...I also remember seeing the rocks. My grandpa once told me that both the ancient local fisherman used to stack them to mark their paths, and that the locals also stacked them as a tribute to Pele (the volcano goddess). There is actually a law protecting stacked rocks!

    Anyway-just thought I'd tell u my story.....
