This shot depicts one of the many dance groups taking part in the Fiestas de San Pedro in Cayambe, Ecuador. The timing of the celebration coincides with the summer solstice, which carries with it agricultural connotations, but there is also a strong association with Catholicism, as indicated by the name of the event. The costumes are really intricate and well done, as are the props. Take that giant wooden spoon, for example.
