The Great Steamboat Race is an annual event, taking place three days before the Kentucky Derby. The race begins under 2nd street bridge and heads down to Six Mile Island, where they turn and head back to the bridge. The Belle of Louisville shown here ahead, had actually made an illegal turn this year and was disqualified during the race giving the win to the Delta Queen. The race first started in 1963!
