This is a xiu mai (Vietnamese meatball pork) sandwich from the Saigon Sandwich shop in San Francisco. I think it's the best sandwich in the world, if not the entire universe.
I do not say this lightly or without full consideration. But I can say it unambiguously: This is not only the best bahn mi Vietnamese sandwich I've ever had; it's the best sandwich I've ever had, at any price, anywhere, ever. And I've had a lot of sandwiches.
Some might argue. Some might quibble or disagree. Fie on them. I'll say it yet again: Best. Sandwich. EVAR.
And that's before we even begin talking about the price. In this case, sublime perfection will set you back just $2.75 per.

I concur that it's one of the most delicious sandwiches I've ever tasted. But I'm reluctant to favorite this photo, because then I'd see it in my favorites list all the time and it'll just make me hungry.
I've been to Bakesale Betty's twice. Both times they were "out of food". I'm sure it's good and all, but what kind of restaurant runs out of food?!? After the second time, I gave up. Saigon has always done me right, I'm already looking forward to my next bite.. and the fact that they've never run "out of food" is reassuring that the trip won't be in vain.

I think Paul declared war...I will have to keep an eye out for the killer sandwich.

That's a salad on bread. Barely a sandwich.
