Photo: A jump rope, a soccer ball, friends, happiness

We brought gifts including a jump rope and soccer ball to a World Vision child in Kabernet, Kenya, and, although it seemed the family lived in a very isolated place, other families began to emerge from the hills to join us and to share in the new treasures of childhood. We sat on logs and ancient knarled exposed tree roots, not Americans and Kenyans, just we the parents and children who shared all the same dreams of love, health, opportunity and happiness. It felt like time stood still for this moment as we together touched the center of the universe.
