Initially constructed in 1929 as a Masonic temple, but never completed and an eyesore to the skyline of Providence, this amazing example of neoclassical architecture has been meticulously restored as the Renaissance Providence Hotel. The hotel's aptly named restaurant, Temple, is one of Providence's new and trendy places to eat and drink. After all, how many restaurants have both graffiti and marble columns as their key decorations? This treasure was almost 80 years in the making!

Wow! I lived in Providence during the 1980s, and I remember this place during its "eyesore" years. I didn't realize it had become a hotel!
