This gentleman had traveled from Atlanta to one of the most famous Mormon sites in the world, compelled by commitment to his faith. During the half hour tour he followed the guide in a sincere quest to better understand his beliefs. Every week hundreds of people make similar pilgrimages to this monument as a way of affirming their faith and sharing a spiritual experience with others of their religion. The history of Salt Lake City and the history of this church are undeniably intertwined in a way that is significant to understanding local culture whether you are Mormon or not.
