And the journey continues. My issue 2 of Everywhere Magazine has so far clocked in hundreds of kilometres by plane, car and on foot. I can't say it was easy lugging my heavy Nikon D300 with 3 lenses, accsessories and this famous copy of issue 2, but with the help of my driver Ali, I managed to get round. In fact I caught Ali browsing through it a couple of times while I was out of the car snapping at this and that on the road.
I met these UN Peacekeepers, hailing from Indonesia, who are based in Tyre, Lebanon in the Grotto of Cana of Bible fame. It was stifling hot and there I was going down the path towards the grotto carrying the aforementioned paraphenalia. You have to know (a small confession here) that even while travelling I never go out without my hair fashionably styled by a local hairdresser or without make up. So I guess this petite well groomed woman laden like a pack donkey and clutching a magazine in the grotto must have made some impression on them. I was soon handed about 6 cameras to take group photos. Unable to clutch the magazine and snap away, I gave it to one of them to hold. This soon aroused interest and they gathered round to browse through it. Other Peacekeepers were happily snapping away at this scene too so this pic would have made it to Indonesia to their family members.
My last impression at Cana was this group of Peacekeepers waving me and my copy of Everywhere goodbye and a safe journey to my next destination. And the journey goes on.........
