Found in Golden Gate Canyon State Park which is located northwest of Golden, Colorado and can be accessed from Highway 119 north of the town of Blackhawk, northwest of Golden from Colorado 93 then west along Golden Gate Canyon Road or west of Colorado 93 then west on 72 turning onto Twin Spruce Road, to Gap Road and into the park. Golden Gate Canyon State Park consists of a 10,220 acres of land in which are located campgrounds, hiking trails, fishing ponds and creeks. Golden Gate Canyon has a visitors center for information on hiking trails as well as permits for camping and Christmas tree cutting in winter.
