Statue looks like it has a pole coming out of the head. That is actually a lightning rod behind the statue as it was struck by lightning a few years back which caused a lot of damage and was just recently finished from repair. From I 70 take Lookout Mountain exit to the right along the Service Rd. to the entrance to the Shrine. Be prepared for a long hike up stairs to the statue.
