Every spring, children across South Korea purchase baby chicks as pets. I met this girl in the Banyawol district of Daegu, just seconds after she had purchased a chick from a stationary store. I was shocked to see the store owner package the chick for her by placing it inside a plastic bag. Not surprisingly, the spring chicks do not last long once they are purchased.
