Harvesting Tulips

Each April near Mount Vernon, WA, the fields come alive with a variety of colors from millions of beautiful tulips. In the early morning, harvesters work quickly, sometimes in damp, cold weather to gather the tulips for market. On this day, the sun came out, but the woman pictured still elected to protect her face from the "nip" of the morning hours. Farm labor in Skagit County is provided mainly by the Hispanic members of the community. It may not seem like very glamorous work, but they take pride in supporting their families by working in this beautiful environment.

This should be on "The Week in Pictures" on MSN. I'm sure it would win first place.
