Arches is my quintessential desert dream. The rich blue sky, vivid red rocks, touches of emerald green in the vegetation; the colors seem to jump right off the color wheel and form haphazardly into an other-worldly dreamscape. The walk to Delicate Arch was difficult, with an elevation gain of 500 feet up the side of slick rock, but well worth it. I knew exactly how Delicate Arch would look, but as I walked around the last corner, the sight of this arch, this geological freak of nature, absolutely took my breath away.

We felt so small under the arches, like little ants crawling under blades of grass. It was hot and the walk was a little more than we expected, but worth it. This was one of our top 3 favorite national parks that we visited on our America Roadtrip.
