Best viewed large, of course. In September 2007, the fabulous Sirron Norris completed a new street mural called "Victorion, El Defensor de la Misión" on Balmy Alley in the Mission District, San Francisco; it's a smart commentary about the development and preservation of the neighborhood.

About this place:

This tiny alley in San Francisco's Mission District has been a focal point for local street muralists since the 1970s. Balmy Alley runs parallel to Treat Ave and Harrison Street between 24th & 25th streets, and today it is covered with more than a dozen murals — many of which have political themes. Bring a camera if you visit, because this is one of the most colorful things to see in one of the most colorful neighborhoods in San Francisco. Access is very simple: Just take BART to 24th Street Station, and walk east a few blocks. Turn right on Balmy just past Folsom Street.
