About this place:
Echo Lakes, California, is located off Highway 50 between Placerville and South Lake Tahoe. There are two small alpine lakes in the High Sierra Nevada Mountains at about the 7,000 feet above sea level. These lakes are one of the entrances to the Desolation Wilderness area. Although there are some summer homes around the lake, access can only be gained by either boat or on foot. This area, including the lakes, are prized for their beauty, fishing, boating, hiking and other outdoor activities.
